JODIE SHOWS SUPPORT FOR CAR TAX
Supermodel Jodie Kidd has joined the Royal Navy in helping to promote the new online car tax service.
The DVLA are hoping that the model's involvement will help promote the idea that anyone can renew their car tax, even if they are at sea on a HMS ship.
Ms Kidd will be using the ship's internet facilities to show the 255 crew members of HMS Ocean how to renew their car tax or declare their vehicle off road (SORN) without having to be near their vehicle.
"This new car tax online service is so fantastically easy to use that there really is no excuse for anyone not to tax their car or declare SORN on time - even if they're in the middle of the ocean," said the supermodel.
A Royal Navy spokesman added: "The Royal Navy welcomes the chance to help the DVLA promote their new online service. It will be of great use to deployed servicemen and women."
The DVLA estimate that the online service has be used by more than 2.2 million so far and it is expecting that the service will becoming increasing popular amongst those who are forced to travel overseas or have busy lifestyles.
The online provision of car-related services has been welcomed by both the industry and consumers, and means shopping around for products such as cheap car insurance cover is easier as well as cost-effective.
